SUMMER EDITION!
The year is now half over and summer is upon us in full bloom. The weather is wonderful, the gardens and flowers are growing, and soon we will have lots of flowers, fruits and vegetables for our tables. This time of the year always inspires me with all of colors and smells it creates. It makes me think: "How can I capture these sites and smells in my quilts and needlework?", so I go to my friendly quilt shops and try to find materials and yarns that remind me of the beautiful days of summer and spring.
This summer the town of Winchester is having a Beer Cheese Festival on June 13. For those of you who don’t know what this is, it’s a great snack to have at those summer get-togethers, and everyone has their own special recipe. So come on down to taste and judge for yourself from all of the different commercial and homemade varieties of this great cheese product. Then in July we will have a Sip-and-Stroll on Main Street. Most of the stores in the downtown district will be involved and you can enjoy some wines, activities and shop the stores in downtown.
We are planning two trips this summer: to the quilt show in Cincinnati (June 27), and also to the needle art show in Columbus (June 13-14). We will be closed for the Columbus show, but make sure you come in afterwards and see what we have added to the store.
Shop Hop News
The Shop Hop planning is coming along great, the ideas are coming together. The quilt pattern for this year’s quilt is finished and each of the shops are putting together their own interpretation of the quilt with each of their own shop’s unique personality in it. This year there is a new shop located near Elizabethtown. There are ten shops this year in the Hop so the travel will be a little better. So if you haven’t done the Hop before, this could be the year for you.

Ever want to get some new patterns or get rid of some of your old patterns that you have already done? Well let's get a group of fellow stitchers together and see if we can exchange ideas and patterns. If we get enough response maybe we can make this a regular thing. I would love to host it and even provide refreshments. If Saturdays don’t work we can pick a day during the week.
Beginning Knitting

We will make a simple project and a set of directions for a more challenging project will be supplied at class.

Ever wonder what to do with all of those piles of extra material?, well this is the perfect solution. Don’t worry if you haven’t done this last time. These projects are designed so you can pick and choose your favorites. The cutting workshop will help you take all of those scraps and turn them into an organized useful assortment of blocks. The third and forth projects class you will take those blocks and trade them with the others and create beautiful new projects.
Share your projects
Bring in your finished project and we will take a picture and put it on the wall with the all the others we get, so we can all get new ideas and be inspired to do something new and different!

As always, we have table space and a spare machine or two. If you have a special project you would like help on, come on down and talk to Judy or Dave and we can call it a class and work something out! You can work on your project in the store with expert help and cheery encouragement handy!
