NEW YEAR EDITION
January and February have come and gone already this year and I am finally getting a newsletter together. Sorry for the delay but my resolution this year is to keep the newsletter up to date and current.
Quilter’s day out is on March 15, 2008. The store will be having a 20% off sale that weekend as well as in-store surprises. So come on in and show us your latest projects.
March 23 is Easter and the downtown is sponsoring an Easter egg hunt for children age 1 to 12, pictures with the Easter Bunny and there is an Easter egg hunt for the older kids(and Adults)in the down town business district. The prizes for this event are spectacular! Don’t miss out on this one.
April is fast approaching and it will be our 2nd Anniversary. So the week of April 14 -19 we will be having our mystery discount sale that will also include coupons for extra prizes that you will receive in addition to your discount. On Saturday of that week we will conclude our week long celebration with drinks and treats for all that come in and shop.
Winchester has such wonderful people and customers here. So this is just one small way for us to say thank you to all the great people and customers here.
May is not that far away either and as most of you already know we will be away from the store for the week of May 18 to the 25th as we are going on a cruise for our daughter’s wedding and a much needed vacation. We will miss you all that week but don’t worry, we will come back the next week energized and ready to conquer lots of new projects.
This years new additions include a complete assortment of DMC floss along with material, kits and accessories for cross stitch and embroidery. We have also added the Northcort assortment of flowers-of-the-month materials along with several Laura Burch purses and totes. Hopefully we will be able to upgrade the quilting machine and frame.
I would still love to sponsor meetings of an ongoing group here at the store. It could be during the day or even on an evening once a week or month. I will be taking a list of names and times of those that are interested and then we can arrange for a time to meet.

Bring one or two special t-shirts and learn how to put them into a quilt that can be shared for years to come.

SIMPLE PAPER PIECING

Learn the versatile method of paper piecing on a simple square so that later when you need it in a more complicated project you will feel comfortable. Materials will be supplied for this class.

Wednesdays April 2 thru April 23, 2008

This class will last 4 weeks
Week 1 starting and the cuff
Week 2 the heel
Week 3 the gusset and foot
Week 4 the toe and finishing
Sock making is a lot easier than you think and a craft that you can take and do just about anywhere.
Once you wear a pair you will fall in love with them.

Beginning Quilting

Learn the basics of rotary cutting, 1/4 inch seams and squaring with this easy and colorful quilt top. A list of materials will be supplied when class fee is paid.

Photo Transferring

Learn how to do photo transfer on to material to add that special touch to your quilt.
Material to make one photo transfer will be supplied. You will need to bring one or two pictures to print. Directions for photo format will be given when fee is paid

Tumbling Blocks Quilt
Saturday April 26 and May 3
12:00 to 4:00
Learn to make the Tumbling Blocks Quilt with no Y seams. The strip Method will be used. Material list will be given when fee is paid.
The second day is for those that want more instruction and practice, it is not necessary to attend both classes.

Advanced Log Cabin quilt class

Judy Martin has a great book out with some spectacular log cabin quilts and this class will use that book to learn her method of making log cabin quilts.

Beginning Knitting

Come and learn the basics of knitting
We will make a simple project and a set of directions for a more challenging project will be supplied at class.
A set of needles and a ball of yarn will be supplied, all you need is a willingness to learn.

Latch hook rug

Learn the simple technique to use up your scrap material and turn it into beautiful rugs or hot pads. Material list will be supplied when fee is paid.

BLOCK OF THE MONTH PROGRAM
This years block of the month program will be an Amish inspired quilt. There will be 2 color choices to chose from. The class will meet on the second Saturday of the month and will begin in October . The cost will be $5.00 per month and there will be second block each month to purchase to give a total of 24 blocks by the end of the year. The quilt will also have a finishing kit that will be available at the end of the year. The kit when add to the original squares makes a quilt 86 by 95 inches.
